WELCOME TO SPAC - WHERE ARTISTS MEET, SHARE AND LEARN TOGETHER

SPAC is a non-profit organization which enjoys a first class reputation. Our society is for artists of all media and all levels of accomplishment.

As members we share ideas and facilities, sponsor classes and demonstrations, provide scholarships for local students and artists and support and encourage each other in our endeavours

New members are always welcome.

SPAC will be holding its monthly meetings the first Monday of each month at the Mary Winspear Cultural Centre @ SANSCHA located on the corner of Beacon Avenue and Patricia Bay Highway in Sidney, BC. Meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in Activity Room 4. There are no general meetings in the months of January, May, July, August and September. The Annual General Meeting is held in October. Guest speakers and special events are planned.

Membership: If you know of anyone who would like to join SPAC this year, please email Herta Giroux - herthag@telus.net, or they can call at 250-383-0617, and she will send a membership form.

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH OUR MEMBERS

CHRISTMAS AT ARTISANS - COMMUNITY ARTS CENTRE, TULISTA PARK

Many of our SPAC members have their work for sale at this event..open until Christmas

THE CRONE PROJECT

Four women on Gabriola Island invite you to a very lively exhiblit. For the past 18 months we have explored all aspects of growing old in a youth- focused world. We have deliberately selected the title “Crone” and its original meaning, “old wise woman”, to highlight our perspective. Working in clay, paint, quilting and paper mache our goal is to present our subjects, some as old as 101 years, in that light.

Oct 20 to Dec 5, 09 at the Professional Centre 590 North Road, Gabriola Island

There will be a formal reception on Nov. 1 from 1 to 4 pm that will include a poetry reading by Gabriola’s Naomi Wakan.

WORKSHOPS BY THE SEA

Workshops are provided for our members to enhance their skills or to broaden their horizons and try something new. The instructors we have booked give workshops all over the world and bring many years of experience to share. The feedback from the classes have been extremely positive and I know you would enjoy one yourself.

The workshops are held at the Saanich Fairgrounds where we have a very big, bright classroom. The classes are held to a minimum of 20 participants to ensure everyone has a positive experience.
